Astoundingly great

She speaks like a small shy child at times but her performance comes from deep within her gut. She sings from her soul and her songs are so melodic and so beautiful. The songs she sang are like short novels. Meaning there is a beginning, a middle, and a (usually tragic) end. When she sang her song Sheppard, I cried. Her songs and her voice just make for a great opener to The Milk Carton Kids.
The show brought people from all walks of life. I sat beside and older man and his daughter and two best friends in college. We all had a great time.
The Milk Carton Kids are so good. Anybody can agree on that. They're delightfully synchronous and their melodies are always great. What I did not expect was their chemistry and playful banter onstage. Oh my GOD they are so funny. Joey has such a dry, sharp humour and Kenneth is more quietly and pensively witty. They play off each other so well and often went off on tangents about their childhoods, cracking jokes inbetween the songs they played so masterfully. It was part my-cheeks-hurt-from-laughing-so-hard comedy show, part I-can't-believe-this-is-the-sound-of-just-2-guys-and-2-guitars musical exprience. The way Kenneth plays his guitar so consistently perfect left me in awe. I cannot recommend them enough. Them, live, is an experience I wish I could capture and release to the world. They're so, so, so, so special. If you get an opportunity to see them live, do it. There isn't a moment of that night I wish I could take back.
