  • Great golf, abysmal transportation

by Kyle on 2024-06-10Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 2 out of 5

Actual event was great. Line up to get on the shuttle after words was chaotic mess. A long snake style line on a single sidewalk which was not policed or monitored. Seems like they only had like 5 busses for hundreds (maybe thousands) of people. Ended up just booking an Uber back to the fairgrounds. The exact same issue was present in 2019 sad to see nobody learned from it.

  • RBC Canadian Open Saturday

by Dave on 2024-06-07Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 5 out of 5

First time being at the Open even tho it has been there before and only about 4k from my home. It was a lot of fun...good weather...being close to the golfers..food and beer were a little pricey but expected. Concert was fun even tho I am not a country fan. Overall...would definitely go again!!

I though I ordered the wrong ticket for the May 31 Canada Open because all the ticket said was the name of some concert that was going on the same day.

  • It’s our National Open!

by JCR on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 4 out of 5

Great golf course, Golf Canada does a great job! RBC is a highly valued sponsor of the PGA Tour..... I hope. But to have it sandwiched between the PGA, 2 designated events beforehand, and with Jack’s designated event and the US Open immediately after, means many, if not most of the top players don’t come. Thank goodness for Rory, Shane and Tommy, and God bless Robert McIntyre for his performance and his totally genuine, emotional victory with his dad. Notwithstanding some great Canadian performances by Hughes and Conners, it otherwise could have been taken for a Korn Ferry event. RBC should be telling the Tour to do something about the scheduling, it’s a travesty that a national open with the history and prestige of the Canadian Open gets such short shrift. I will make my annual complaint about the pricing, from start to finish an overpriced event, especially in food and beverage. 3 “combos” of a burger, small chips and a beer - $109!!! The cashier was totally embarrassed to tell me what the total was..... the one improvement was a far better system for moving people through the F&B service lines. But the prices are a total rip-off, full stop.

  • Great golf Poor quality hats

by Gus on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 3 out of 5

The Open has world class golf. So nice to see the great Canadian golfing talent. Very disappointed in the poor quality of the merchandise compared to past tournaments. It really seemed to be a money grab. Casts the Open in a bad light.

  • Parking could have been better

by JaneT on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 3 out of 5

Parking too far away and way too long waiting at the end of the day to get the shuttle bus back to the lot. Also not enough washrooms close the main venue. Why they won’t have washrooms near the food and 18th tee is beyond me!!! People should be able to bring a snack without a hassle at the gate as food is pricey and options to eat are very limited. Enjoyed last year’s venue, didn’t love this years.

  • Always a great event but could be better

by Live Viewing PGA VETERAN on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 4 out of 5

I have probably been to 30 live golf events including the Arnold Palmer (10) , Boston playoff event (8) and Players(2). The 3 things the Canadian open needs to do better are: Install some general public grandstands at 18 green. Other tournaments have this. Pretty disappointing for the thousands of hard core fans that aren't in the corporate booths Do a much better job of handling parking and transportation logistics Do a better job on washroom and hand cleaning facilities. There was no water in any of the hand water dispensers on Sunday. Nobody wants dirty unsanitary washroom facilities

  • A good time, but needs more bathrooms

by Gongshow99 on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 5 out of 5

The event was well organized, but several volunteers were unsure of where bathrooms were. I used the app to locate them eventually but they were often pretty far apart and a far walk from each other. Also, I believe there was only one water station which was at the main entrance. Not ideal for everyone to access water.

  • Well organized and a tonne of fun!

by Matt on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 5 out of 5

First time attending a PGA event in person. The staff were helpful with any questions and the event was well organized. Had an absolute blast, will be back for future events!

  • Over all experience was very good.

by Etobicoke Golfer on 2024-06-05Hamilton Golf and Country Club - AncasterRating: 4 out of 5

Course event provisions were well laid out. Great course that would be well suited for another Canadian Open. I also like the fact that even with just general admission, you could line the edges of the green at 18 and watch all the players come in. Very exciting to be in the mix. That adds for an energetic finish, that looks good on TV as well. Keep this element and extend it to more holes. The course signage was great, it was easy to navigate the course. Not enough washroom. Seriously there should be four times as many, especially where people congregate. Water stations were in one location only. So you were forced to line up for 30 minutes to pay $6 for a bottle of water. There should be at least 6 water station locations. The shuttle bus service to/from the Ancaster Fair Grounds was slow, so based on that feedback we parked near the venue. Wasted $30 for parking purchase at the Fairground, which we did not use. When we left the RBC Open, the line ups for the shuttle were very long, with at least a 1 hour wait to get on the buses.
