fantastic event..... - mature (bit older) crowd.......very well behaved - excellent bands - sound excellent - layout was great - lots of washrooms and beverage/food areas - don't need to do VIP upgrade
Let's face it the venue is the best in Calgary. Provided the weather co-operates. The bar service was generally good. Why the confusion with all the extra Port o Pots? Who is the estimater for that? I loved the music however I think you should designate an additional area for Standing near the stage. You could charge an additonal say $20 but for gods sake put a bar up in this area for the convenience of the patrons.
We enjoyed the music and the venue, though I wish we could have brought concert chairs, at our age (60s) it’s not fun sitting on the ground. We also thought the alcoholic beverages were outrageously priced! Also, it would have been nice to see a burger & regular fries food truck.
Had a great concert bad experience with Ticketmaster was bad, overcharged on tickets with fees brutal they were selling VIP tickets for the same price beer price outrageous limited for the underprivileged
All four bands were great! The sound was very good. Nice that there were 2 big screens for us short people that have difficulty seeing over the cowboy hats and phone cameras taking pictures above the crowd. Pricey drinks. Needed more food trucks so a variety of food. Should have been allowed to bring in festival chairs and blankets to sit on.
Really liked the new venue. User friendly and the acoustics were great. The food was good and the music was good look forward to next year. Cheers!
The location on Princess Island was awesome, nice to have a combination of shade and sun. The entertainment was fantastic. I have a few complaints was the cost of drinks, the mixed drinks were served in very small glasses that were filled to the rim but then you ended up spilling half of it as you walked on the uneven ground and the automatic tip that was added to all drinks. I believe in tipping but it should be a choice and if you are going to make it automatic then at the very least use a decent sized glass and provide more value to make up for the high cost of a drink.
Tom Cochrane was amazing! 71 years old and sounds the same. Such a Canadian Treasure. George Thorogood at 73 years old was still stirring up the crowd with his music and theatrical antics. Everything you want in a rock n roll show. Note to the organizers. We bought tickets to the Phillips VP area, in front of us was the Ultra VP area. The Ultra VP area had umbrellas set up that impeded the view of people in the Phillips VP area. This forced us to move out of the Phillips VP area to watch from another location.
Having been to Prince's Island many times for Folk Fest, this event built on what FF does well (food and amenities). The timing between acts was perfect for coming and going. The sound was great and it's often poor at FF. The lead singer's mic is often too low at FF. We were dead center about 40 yards back for Cochrane then George. It was perfect. Well done Oxford and 51 North!
