Disco fans get ready to freak out — Chic and Giorgio Moroder are coming to the Hollywood Bowl in 2014 for one of the most anticipated strobe-filled nights of disco music the legendary amphitheater has ever seen. Acting as gatekeepers of dance music's vanguard, Moroder and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers aim to highlight the connection between classic disco and contemporary dance music by sharing the bill with young electronic acts including Oliver, Tennsnake, and Destructo. The night of open-air music will feature The Bowl's state-of-the-art audiovisuals, Southern California's pitch-perfect weather, and plenty of dancing in the aisles, making for an unforgettable night of classic disco magic.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

In 1976, guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards formed Chic while working as session players in New York City. Rounding out their act with the addition of two female singers, the band struck disco gold with 1978 sophomore album C'est Chic, topping the charts with iconic smash "Le Freak." A year later, the band released Risque, again reaching No. 1 with "Good Times," a defining moment of the disco era and one of the most sampled songs in music history. The group's success waned along with disco's popularity in the early '80s, but renewed interest in the genre has led to several reunions over the years, paving the way for the group's continued touring in 2014.

    Nile & Chic were so incredible! Lots of hits, and non-stop dance energy from start to finish. The band was fantastic—extremely talented and very tight musically. It was my wife’s birthday, and it was great celebrating her night with Nile Rodgers & Chic. Nile Rodgers is a living legend. So much incredible music throughout his career. It was a pleasure to spend the evening with him and all that fantastic music!! Tealky hope to see him again soon. Thanks!

    Nile Rodgers music is not just disco and funk. From Duran Duran to David Bowie to his own music with Chic and probably Diana Ross' biggest sol hits, Nile is a legendary writer and producer. But his live performance was an amazing surprise. Jerry Barnes is as dynamic a bass player as anyone out there (including the great Verdine White). A great night of music.

    Nile Rodgers is a class act he is humble and knows how to get the audience going. Chic was incredible too. They work so well together on stage. Energy from the start. Fantastic music and performances by all band members. Thanks for the great memories and outstanding music all these years.
