About

Having recently completed another successful run with Pixies and Cat Power, Modest Mouse continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today. Modest Mouse released their highly anticipated new album, The Golden Casket, on June 25, 2021 via Epic Records. The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi platinum band's unpredictable evolution. Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse's studio in Portland, the album hovers in the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from the degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology, to fatherhood. The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in Brock's head.

Loved it! Wasn't a fan of their second set Playlist. But loved it. I've loved them since I was young. Love love. Thank you.

  • Fire it up!

This was one of the most tight performances I've ever seen. The crowd was a little sedated, but it was a Sunday, so I can't fault people too much. Great sound at this specific venue as well. Good crowd interactions.

Great show and sound @ History venue in Toronto. They are clearly passionate about music and look like they are having a lot of fun while performing. Makes for a great show and good experience for all. Would have loved an encore though! 5 stars regardless

Awesome show, Modest Mouse was fantastic and Mattress was a fun opener.

  • Pretty good

by Millie on 2022-12-02Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Modest Mouse didn’t really make a huge attempt to connect with their audience but overall the vibes were right, they played great & it was a memorable evening out. As others have stated, the Commodore Ballroom is notorious for their low sound production. Aka instruments & music over shadow the vocals & lyrics :/ shame.

  • Unreal Experience!

by Heather on 2022-12-01Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Modest Mouse brought the house down, surprising exactly nobody! What made this show extra special was that it was the anniversary tour of one of their earlier albums; this meant that basically every single person there was a true, hardcore fan. The energy in that crowd of superfans was unbeatable, and added so much passion to an already incredible set of performers!

Not a good venue for this type of artist. It was way too loud.
