KING DIAMOND IN CONCERT:

When it comes to all-out macabre spectacle, few artists can compete with legendary Danish heavy metal icon King Diamond. The revered performer has been honing his diabolical stage persona for four decades, and his highly theatrical live show is the perfect showcase for his incredible falsetto vocals, bludgeoning guitars, and over-the-top showmanship. From his heavily painted black and white makeup to the neon crosses hanging upside-down above the stage, King Diamond's acclaimed tours provide an unforgettable concert experience that fans of full-blown heavy metal extravaganza won't want to miss.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Danish metal legend King Diamond, a.k.a. Kim Bendix Peterson, got his start as a performer in the mid-'70s with the heavy rock outfits Brainstorm and Black Rose. In 1981 he formed the seminal heavy metal group Merciful Fate, which provided a testing ground for the quasi-Satanic persona he had begun developing with his earlier projects. After two acclaimed albums and a world tour the band called it quits, and in 1985 King Diamond launched his solo career with his eponymous band. Their 1986 debut Fatal Portrait cracked the Top 40 in Sweden, enthralling the country's dark metal fans with morbid songs like "Lurking in the Dark" and "Halloween". The band followed up in 1997 with concept album Abigail, which landed on the US Billboard 200 chart and staked the increasingly ambitious, concept-oriented territory they would continue to explore on subsequent releases. With 12 studio albums and nearly as many acclaimed tours under their belt, King Diamond continues to thrill ticket buyers with their no-holds-barred heavy metal mayhem.

  • Awesome!!!

Concert was great! Had a good view of the stage, saw King Billy from all areas! Venue treated us well! No being allowed out, that was not cool. Only thing I would've change. People in crowds need to breath fresh air. Felt a bit closed in when you found out you couldn't leave.

  • A fantastic bucket list event!

by FPJ on 2024-11-08The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The bands were fantastic, the venue was organized and clean, and the show security was polite and helpful! The opening band was Night Demon. I knew the least about this band, but was pleasently surprised by how talented they are, and how good of a show they put on with very little room on the stage. At one point both the guitarist and the bassist came running out into the crowd to perform part of a song. They really had the classic vibe of what metal shows used to be like! Overkill was a bucket list band for me! Blitz sounded exactly as he does on the studio albums, and was at the top of his game. The band played great and their stage hand needs a raise for how busy he was. Very Thrash metal!!!! This was my first time seeing one of my favorite bands, and I was thoroughly impressed. King Diamond was amazing. It was cool seeing Andy LaRocque playing guitar with King Diamond again. My girlfriend and I were right against the front barrier when Andy threw a pick and landed it on my gf's b00bs!! I'm not sure if that was his intention, but if it was, you sir, have fantastic aim!! well done. At the end of the Show King Diamond stood on stage for a few minutes looking at the audience, taking in the experience, and thanking everyone for their support while we cheered. This is something you don't see very often when it comes to bands, especially ones who've been around for 45+ years, and it was really nice to see the respect, and admiration he has for his fans. The venue was very well organized and clean. Before the concert started, I overheard and older gentleman (standing next to me) talking to his friend about his diabetes; halfway through the show one of the security guards standing in front of us, grabbed a bottle of water and handed it to him mentioning something about overhearing about his diabetes and suggesting he have the bottle of water and doesn't have to lose his spot near the front. Talk about going above and beyond!! All we could talk about during the 90 minute drive home was how great of an experience everything was!

  • All Hail The King

by Abigail on 2024-11-06The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Night Demon was very good, unfortunately they were hard to see due to poor lighting. Overkill is quite possibly the worst band I have ever seen. King Diamond was excellent, the band was great and he didn't miss a note. The sound mix was poor, the music overwhelmed the vocals.

  • Great bands but poor sound

by JS on 2024-11-06The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Really great to see 2 legendary Metal bands from the 80s. King Diamind had a great stage production too with nodscto Alice Cooper. Only problem was sound was bad at the venue. A minimal cement room with no accoustics and distorted noise sound that hid the songs at times. For that price of $90 it shouldve been better sound.

  • Phenomenal

  • GREAT SHOW AND VENUE

by HARVAGE on 2024-11-06The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

ONLY DISSAPOINTMENT WAS THAT ONCE YOU ENTER AND LEAVE YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO RE-ENTER. I DO NOT UNDERSATAND AS THIS VENUE IS ATTACHED TO A CASINO AND LET'S JUST SAY YOU HAVE TIME BETWEEN SETS OF BANDS AND DECIDE YOU WANT TO GAMBLE OR JUST GET SOME FRESH AIR YOU CAN'T. THATS ALL!
