FATHER JOHN MISTY IN CONCERT:
Father John Misty brings folk into the 21st century with each eclectic element he incorporates into his unique sound, and his charismatic showmanship makes his live shows a must-see. When he's strumming his way through ballads like ìThe Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartmentî his emotional vocals and heartbreaking lyrics make alt-country fans feel right at home. But heís just as comfortable strutting his stuff to noisy, spiteful rockers like ìThe Ideal Husbandî and turning out full-blown electronica on tracks like the transcendently beautiful ìTrue Affectionî. With his singular combination of Americana traditions with cutting-edge sounds, Father John Misty is a folk icon for a new generation, and fans won't want to miss the chance to see him conjure up his immersive sound in concert.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Before making his debut as Father John Misty in 2012, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Tillman was busy recording late-night demos in the Seattle-area. After self-releasing two CD-R demos he attracted the attention of Fargo Records, and in 2006 the label released his debut album Minor Works. In 2008 Tillman was tapped by indie darlings Fleet Foxes, who needed a drummer for the recording of their self-titled debut. Though he gained widespread exposure and success with Fleet Foxes, Tillman left to pursue his creative reinvention as Father John Misty in 2012. After a warm reception from critics and fans for his debut album Fear Fun, he set out on his first solo headlining tour. His 2015 follow-up album I Love You, Honeybear was a breakthrough success, appearing on best-of lists from esteemed sources like Pitchfork, Roughtrade, and Stereogum. As he continues to breathe new life into indie folk with his wide-ranging influences and poetic gifts, Father John Mistyís electrifying performances have fans eagerly anticipating whatís next from the innovative troubadour.

one of the best concert of my life. The vibes. the music. the crowd. Wow. Love you father john🙌
Excellent show, saw him first in Ashville North Carolina in VR will again see him in Ashville Tennessee on Oct 6 again in VR. Can't wait as there was a very short seen when in Montreal when the stage turn red & a brive white in a fraction of a second. I didn't see that in Ashville but hoping to notice it in Nashville. As far sound quality I give it a 6 on 10. Couldn't make out the lyrics music louder than hie voice terrible also opening act also had terrible sound . I was hopping it would get better. But actually get worse. Song choices were great his voice is great.
Mtelus sounds is always a challenge but with Father John Misty great voice and musical arrangements it survived.Especially with the songs with less instruments...But overall ,amazing performance and absolutely great set.
The full ensemble exceeded expecations, great performance.
It was all I expected it to be - good seats, acoustics
Honestly, it was top 3 concert material. He sounded great, we got to hear material from 2 seperate albums for the first time. He played most of my favourites, and the venue was awe inspiring. The perfect place to see the tour for Chloe. The man himself said it felt special. I desperately wanted to yell out “you should start a cult!” But I thought better of it. Mr. Misty is very enigmatic and riveting to watch. I love seeing concerts in Vancouver, this one was one of my faves EVER.
One of the best concerts I’ve been too. The band was fantastic, Josh was next level and the venue was great.
I've seen an enjoyed FJM twice before but found the sound this time in the Orpheum a bit too blaring. His quieter songs sounded better. I was seated in orchestra 29 rows back. The band was good but unfortunately my short wife didn't have much of a view after Josh Tillman wanted the audience to stand. Fair enough, next time we'll be on the balcony
I have seen hundreds of concerts in my life and this one was top 3.
J. Tillman and his band were simply captivating from start to finish. His ability to connect with the audience and his willingness to hold nothing back on stage sets him apart from the majority of acts touring today. The sound, the lighting and the venue were also top shelf. Over all a magical performance by an artist who understands how to put on a exceptional rock show. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend seeing Father John Misty in the flesh.
